Our family business, Medford Music House is again nominated for Best of Long Island. Please vote daily! You will find us under the category of “shopping-musical instrument store”.
We have to say this description is not wholly accurate. Musical instrument store is only a small portion of what Medford Music House has been to our community. For the last 42 years, Mr. Jim and Mrs. Mary have directed one of the premier music education centers on Long Island. We are a family business which is staffed by five music teachers with advanced degrees in Music, Liberal Arts, Early Childhood Education and Educational Technology. We also have an expert musical instrument repair business supporting contracts with school districts throughout the northeast.
Yes, we sell instruments, we rent them, we fix them, we teach others how to play them and sing, but our business is really about people. It’s about relationship. We guide others in how to channel their power and presence for success in any field.
We are what is known in the financial world as a “center of influence”, our business is mainly through referral and always has been. Every day someone is benefiting from the generous spirit of Medford Music House. Our tag line is, “Where Harmony Begins…” and we truly believe personal fulfillment and community peace can be reached through music. Our prices are surprisingly reasonable because we believe everyone should have access to music education. For us, it’s about changing the world, one life at a time, through our gifts.
We aren’t in it for the awards. We don’t flood the internet with the names of those we’ve inspired with a love of music, skills they have for a lifetime and wonderful careers, or those who now hold advanced degrees because of the training they received at Medford Music House. Perhaps we should, that seems to be the way everyone is going, then again, it’s not really our style. We do appreciate that our loyal customers have nominated us again this year and welcome your support for Best of LI 2018.
Mr. Jim and Mrs. Mary are humble people. They will never tell you about the file cabinets, yes plural, filled with awards, honors and proclamations that they have received from organizations all over New York State for their work as business owners and community builders. Ask, and they will shrug it off. Neither does Kathleen lead with awards although she has be recognized for both her charitable and professional work, Anna will not tell you she is a forward thinking money management genius who can add columns of numbers in her head, and James won’t tell you that he was invited to The White House where he was honored for creating a public service announcement for Mrs. Obama’s “Let’s Move!” campaign.
