Welcome the first full moon of spring!
This is a moon that brings us an opportunity to bring unity through the act of releasing. What will you release this year? Fear, concern for other opinions, the need to keep playing small, perhaps some spring cleaning physically? Releasing extra weight, or items that are better passed on to others? Bitterness, disappointments? Relationships that were dead ends?
Releasing what no longer serves us is standard ritual practice at full moon time, just as birthing, creating, and manifesting intentions belong at the new moon phase. Working with the moon phases allows us to break our dreams, desires and goals into small chunks to be worked on each month. I find this practice allows me to be more focused by limiting the number of goals or intentions, I act on each month. It’s actually a calming way to approach what might otherwise become overwhelming steps to creating the life of my dreams.
This is the completion of the cycle that began with the new moon in Pisces. Pisces new moon brought us the ability to access our emotions and dream states, the ability to use our imagination to visualize and feel into the life we want to create for ourselves. We worked to clear out any fears and contemplated the differences between where we are now and where we want to be,
Those were the concepts around which we built our goals these last two weeks. Think back, take out your New Moon Creation Wish List, Intention Setting Notes, whatever you call it and review your progress. Did you allow Pisces energy to engage your feelings in these matters?
As we enter the full moon window, there will be a noticeable shift in energy, for this full moon is in Libra. Libra being the cardinal air sign is much more about thoughts than it is emotions. As much as Libra loves harmony and for everyone to just get along, it’s power is in bringing forth ideas of what that may look like.
With the Full Moon in Libra, the Sun is in the opposite sign, Aries. Aries is bold and brash where Libra is the diplomat. Aries is a warrior at heart, who typically shoots from the hip; Fire, Aim, Ready! That’s Aries. Libra on the other hand is a peacemaker who can spend too much time weighing the options and considering the what ifs.
You may already be seeing how these energies can work together in your favor when you learn to mix them well.
Our questions to ask ourselves this go round are tough and require straightforward and powerful answers.
For more insight, let’s look to the characters of tarot. The Major Arcana cards of the Tarot, major life mysteries, universal themes, all relate to the Zodiac and overall the tarot relates to various moon phases but that’s for another time.
Libra’s character is Justice. “Justice” sits on her throne holding a sword in one hand and Libra’s scales in the other. Justice works to balance the sword of knowing what is right and true, with the letter of the law, as a true states-person would.
The character for Aries is The Emperor. He is a larger than life character who dominates the stage of his world, even if it’s just his hometown. He holds the world gently in his hand as the experience of war and death has shown him how precious life and peace is.
This is a tremendously powerful start to the new year!
What does this mean for us and for all who are interested in applying these concepts to musical and magical practice or to the nitty-gritty practicalities of earthly life?
How can we use these energies to empower our voices and our practices?
In terms of your voice power, Aries calls us to gather our courage and raise our voice against injustice on all fronts while Libra asks us to consider the other side’s point of view and employ logic in all situations. Think about how you can use your voice, your art, your work, your music, as a catalyst for creating a harmonious and inclusive future.
From a down to Earth, musical perspective, what better way to raise your voice than in song with others, sing with a choir! Use Aries initiative to explore music you wouldn’t normally listen to, maybe from a part of the world you know nothing about. Get out from behind your computer and use the charming, social talents of Libra! Make new friends, reach out with curiosity and respect!
This is a moon of rebirth and new life! With Pisces vision now firmly in your heart and mind, let Libra and Aries show you how to make it a reality by letting go of what’s not working for you and replacing it with partnerships, friendships and networks that feed your soul.
Happy Full Moon! Happy Passover! Happy Easter!
May the year ahead hold many blessings for you and those you love… And so it is.
Hi Kathleen! This is a great post! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and energy about the full moon and it’s translation for us.
Hi Dr Krystal! Thank you for reading! I love the moon phases an inform our life experience and empower us toward success. 🙂 Kathleen
I like to break down this season for my inner garden the same way I do with my outer garden, by preparing the soil, amending it, and planting it when the time is right!
Hi Barb! I like your philosophy and you’ve given me an idea!
Hi, Kathleen! What a lovely prediction for the upcoming cycle and season. And I am an Aries! =) Sending you love!
HI Jill! Thank you! It’s your season! Move swiftly toward your goals! 🙂 Lots of love back!
Great article Kathleen! Love working with the current energy!!!
Hi Tarah! Thank you! Yes, this energy is perfect for moving out of the hibernating phase of winter here in the north!
Wow. I can feel these energies building in two areas — my author services partnership really seems to be taking on a special collaborative energy. The other? I’ve been writing a lot about gun violence — not one of my usual areas but something I can’t keep quiet about. Thanks so much.
Wow, indeed, Andrea! You are right in line with the energies. Blessings to you as you bring your creations forward with courage. <3
Love the article Kathleen! I too, use the full moon for letting go and the new moon for manifesting–as many do! I love how Libra is balancing, yet is being balanced by Aries!
I love this uplifting post Kathleen and your encouragement to, “Think about how you can use your voice, your art, your work, your music, as a catalyst for creating a harmonious and inclusive future.” Thank you so much!
Thank you, Kelley! I’m so glad it resonated with you!
